While I take time to gather samples to show you, here is some lettering I did recently for a friend’s birthday banner.

The letter forms were designed the same way as the ones you see drifting down the page at left (which were made using soft brown tree leaves).

However, these letters were given added dimension by using sections of old paintings I made but had since given up on. Sometimes it’s nice to hold on to these things.

I come to design from a background of art & music. These two disciplines inform most everything I do. I like to make things with my hands and I often find that the most satisfying design solutions are arrived at in part or whole, by hand.

Having said that, I also consider the computer keyboard and tablet to be extensions of my hands. I fell in love with typewriters from an early age and continued to enjoy them as they evolved into word processors and eventually, complete tools for graphic and typographic composition.
